Actors Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi couldnt have been more different from each other than they already are. While one is known to be intense and broody, but with a knack of getting into the comic garb with utter ease, the other comes with a funny bone in all his joints, but who can show his tough side as easily.
However, put the two together on screen and their impeccable comic-timing gives you no chance to recuperate from the volley of humour thats hurled at you at full speed.
In fact, the two seem to share as good a chemistry on screen as they do with their leading lady Amrita Rao in their forthcoming film that releases this Friday.
They did that way back in Hulchul and now with Anil Kapoor Films Companys Short Kut: The Con Is On, thats directed by Neeraj Vora, the two only plan to make it more riotous; albeit in a more love-to-hate kind of relationship.
That the two dont see eye-to eye in the film seems to have set the gossip mills churning out rumours that they cant stand each other. Whats the truth, we asked the duo. Well, we are not the best of friends, but both of us do share a good professional relationship and its funny to pander to silly reports like these, says Akshaye. Totally, chips in Arshad. We ourselves have had a good laugh over this one.
Having worked together earlier, how was the experience this time around? Akshaye is a talented actor, so working with him is always a pleasure, says Arshad. Akshaye who also holds his co-star in equally high esteem, shoots back, Its exciting and fun to work with an actor of Arshads calibre. Hes really good at what he does. And his turn as the baddie is easily one of his best performances ever.
Playing a horrible person Arshads also pretty kicked about his role. I just want audiences to enjoy bad people as well, says the actor who has no qualms in admitting that to become the character comes easy to him. And Akshayes no different. Acting is acting, no matter what the genre. I definitely dont believe in living the character, but its not difficult to be the
character, he says.
Talking about the movie, however, the two clarify that Short Kuts not just an out-an-out comedy, but its got all elements of an absolute entertainer. Theres drama and the romantic elements as well, reveals Akshaye. And do the duo subscribe to any short cuts in real life? Only on the roads, they laugh.
